Marketing Analyst
Jennifer Hott has been in the tourism business for over 25 years beginning with working in gift shops as a teenager on the beaches of Panama City to being the director of the Madison County Visitor Center upon it’s opening, to now working as a travel counselor at the award winning new I-26 West Welcome Center. Throughout this time she has learned the business of promoting tourism through college, mentors and experience. Her most intensive experience was gained during her 5 years of directing the visitor center, which included being on the Madison County Chamber of Commerce Board, the Madison County Tourism Development Board and as a Blue Ridge Mountain Host ex-officio. During that time she wrote copy and helped design various brochures, business directories and maps for the county. She also produced and maintained a website for the Madison County Tourism Development Authority. One of her duties as director of the visitor center, that she is still in charge of, is being the Madison County representative for the North Carolina run web site visitnc.com. Jennifer writes, edits and enters the tourism information about the county onto the state database, which is then published on the web site and in the North Carolina Travel Guide and Calendar of Events. At the North Carolina Welcome Center, Jennifer comes in contact with people and the way they respond to today’s marketing techniques on a daily basis. She has unique insight into which publications get picked up and which ones stay on the shelf. She has tremendous natural talent combined with years of experience in layout, design and usability analysis for both print and the web.
